The Old Washington Community Volunteer Fire Company has been the cornerstone of our community for decades, protecting our homes, businesses, and loved ones. Now, it’s our turn to support these everyday heroes as they embark on a critical mission: raising funds to build a new firehouse.
Why We Need a New Firehouse
The current firehouse, though filled with history and memories, is outdated and no longer meets the needs of our expanding community. The building presents numerous challenges, from insufficient space for equipment to inadequate facilities for our firefighters, who need a functional, safe environment to operate effectively.
The Vision for the New Firehouse
The planned firehouse will be a robust 80×100 steel building, designed to accommodate the specific needs of our fire department. This new structure will allow for a full overnight stay for our 24/7 EMS staff, ensuring they are always ready to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice. For the first time, all equipment, vehicles, and staff facilities will be housed under one roof, significantly improving operational efficiency and safety.
The Community Benefits
The old firehouse will be donated to the village for use as a town hall, maintenance facility, and other community purposes. This not only preserves a piece of our history but also provides the village with a valuable asset.
Current Fundraising Status
Our goal is to raise $1.5 million for this vital project. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve already raised $257,000. However, we still have a long way to go, and we need your help to reach our goal.
How You Can Help:
Tip Board: Visit our Tip Board page where you can buy tickets to a raffle for chances to win various items, much like a silent auction, to help raise money for the new building.
Direct Donations: Every dollar counts. Contributions of any size are welcome and can be made through our official fundraising page.
Community Events: Participate in our fundraising events! These events not only raise funds but also bring our community together.
The Old Washington Fire Department has always been there for us in times of need. Now, let’s stand together to ensure they have the resources they need to continue their vital work. By supporting the construction of a new firehouse, we’re investing in the safety, well-being, and future of our entire community.
